Most Common Nail Diseases
Discolour – White marks are common and normal however, white nails can be a sign of liver disease, pale nails is anaemic patients. Yellow nails is a. sign of fungal infections. Blue-Green nails can be a sign of pseudomonas infections and black-brown can be a sign of moles or melanoma.
Brittle – Associated with Iron deficiency and also a sign of old age.
Roughness – very common and usually nothing to worry about.
Lifting of nails – associated with psoriasis, fungal infections and side effects of medications.
Pits – associated with eczema or psoriasis.
